Firefly DVDs

We've watched the first disk of the box set now, and it's a nice change from watching the crappy quality downloads:

  • the quality is superb as can be expected, which means that all sorts of little details (including some quieter dialog) are now accessible,
  • the pilot double episode (intended to be the first episode) is a really good introduction to the characters. We'd not seen 'cos it aired way out of order in the US and we'd never got the download.
  • the first commentary we listened to was over the pilot double episode; it's Joss and Nathan and they don't stop talking :)
  • re-watching the next two episodes was fun - they've got a fair deal of re-screen value in them.

So, top marks for the DVDs, and yet more boos for the idiots at Fox for squandering the series. See my previous post about Firefly for more of what I think about the series.

Three weeks on

Abbey is now three weeks old, and we've come a long way to adapting to life with her. In between changing, catching a few hours' sleep and playing, doing more washing than we've ever done before, we're finding that we have some time to do some of the things we used to do. I've spent a few days hacking Roundup and have caught up with the backlog there. I've also had a little time to play some SSX3 (a great game for picking up for a few minutes) and some new PS2 game demos (some good, some pretty, some very, very bad - none outstanding). We've also been out with Abbey to friends, to shops and for walks, which are all nice to do. I caught up with my workmates today to sort out where we're at, and have a plan for getting my head back into that space again.

Today I took delivery of Firefly on DVD, so it looks like we're going to be hermits for a while again :)
