Rachel's Blog: Cheery things.

Despite a horrendous cold which is leaving me sleepless, achey and blocked, there are several things which are making me happy today.
- The Atheist Bus Campaign
- Totally clean loungeroom. I may never let anyone in it again. Or perhaps I could put newspaper on the floor. If I had any.
- Freshly baked bread from the bread machine.
- Sooooup for dinner tonight.
- The idea I had at 3.30 this morning that continues to not suck.
- Browsing vintage bags on Etsy.
Oh, I know! But Caulfield is a long way from me. Instead I have to be content with living in an area where Asian ingredients are bountiful. :-)
I suddenly crave home made fish-free tom yum. Except it's too hot to cook soup, so I shall just have to crave :).
I'll be staying in that part of Melbourne during Continuum, so if you can wait til August I can bring you a rescue packet of matzah meal. That would be very funny :).

If you can get to Balaclava or Caulfield, most places there have matzah meal. If you want to turn it into a fun shopping expedition, try Kraus's (near Balaclava Station) or Alex's (Glenhuntly Rd near the tram depot). You can get some extraordinary things at either. Alex's has the best soup mix I have ever seen. I loved it so much that Mum took me to their fruit and nut outlet and I bought lots of stuff to bring back to Canberra. The soup mix is not good for chicken soup, but it's wonderful with steamed rice, or emergency sauces, or with broth to make an instant soup.
One day I shall write the definitive Canberra Guide to Melbourne Specialist Food Shopping.
